We've heard a lot about Datsun in the past few months. The defunct-but-returning brand was part of the inspiration for the Nissan IDx concepts seen at the Detroit auto show, but Nissan has been talking about selling cars under the Datsun brand in developing markets like India, Russia and Indonesia since last July. Car collector Jay Leno's new prime-time TV show launches a new segment on Friday night, challenging visiting celebrities to set a fast lap time on a track outside the entertainer's studio. The car that Leno hands to his guests is an electric-powered Ford Focus--a harbinger of a battery-powered Focus that Ford plans to put on sale in 2011. Leno's electric Focus uses the more-modern European Focus as its base, not the well-aged U.S.

Lewis Hamilton may have managed to make it four front rows in a succession, but it’s Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel who has taken pole position in a rain soaked Montreal for tomorrow’s 2013 F1 Canadian Grand Prix. Early on in qualifying Hamilton and Rosberg dominated in the Mercedes, but the Red Bulls started to show their pace and in Q2 they were at the top of the leaderboard. Felipe Massa managed to crash in Q2 and Button, held up in the pit lane whilst the accident was cleared, couldn’t manage to get across the start-finish line in time to do another lap, crashing out in Q2 and 12th palce on tomorrow’s grid.
